Ethical Governance & Code of Conduct

Markdom conducts business with integrity, transparency, and accountability across all operations and supply chains. Our governance framework incorporates internationally recognized standards including the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and applicable legislation such as Canada’s Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (Bill S-211). Markdom supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact covering human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption.

Our Code of Conduct and Ethics establishes expectations for ethical behaviour, compliance with laws, fair competition, anti-corruption practices, and responsible business conduct. It applies to employees, contractors, suppliers, and business partners acting on behalf of Markdom. We expect our partners to uphold these standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Markdom maintains a formal Business Ethics Investigation Program that defines the standardized process for receiving, assessing, investigating, documenting, and resolving allegations of unethical conduct. This program ensures that any allegations of misconduct are investigated fairly, confidentially, and impartially.

Responsible Supply Chain & Due Diligence

Markdom works with suppliers that share our commitment to ethical business conduct, human rights, and environmental responsibility.
Our Supplier Code of Conduct defines the minimum standards expected from suppliers and business partners. Markdom applies a risk-based supplier due diligence framework to identify and manage environmental, social, and governance risks within our supply chain.
This process may include supplier onboarding assessments, compliance questionnaires, supplier monitoring, conflict minerals reporting, and corrective action programs when non-compliance is identified. Suppliers are expected to maintain transparency and cascade these requirements throughout their own supply chains.
To promote transparency and ensure responsible sourcing, Markdom conducts an Annual Supplier Compliance Survey. This survey verifies compliance with ethical business conduct, labor and human rights standards, environmental responsibility, health and safety practices, as well as anti-corruption and fair competition requirements.

Responsible Minerals Sourcing

Conflict Minerals
Markdom is committed to responsible sourcing of tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG) and to preventing human rights abuses associated with the extraction, transport, or trade of minerals.
Our Conflict Minerals Policy supports the objectives of Section 1502 of the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act and aligns with internationally recognized frameworks including the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals and the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI).
Suppliers are expected to conduct appropriate due diligence within their supply chains and respond to Markdom requests for information, including completion of the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT). Suppliers must work to ensure that minerals are sourced from conflict-free smelters and refiners and maintain transparency and traceability within their supply chains.

Reporting Concerns & Speak Up

Markdom promotes a culture of transparency, accountability, and open communication. Employees, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report concerns related to ethics, human rights, environmental practices, workplace safety, or violations of company policies.
Reports may be submitted confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
Examples of reportable concerns include:

  • Corruption, bribery, or unethical conduct

Markdom investigates all reports in accordance with its Business Ethics Investigation Program, ensuring that concerns are reviewed fairly, confidentially, and impartially.
Markdom strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who raises a concern or participates in an investigation in good faith.
